Friends and Vegetable Gardens

June 19th, 2008 at 10:28 pm

I finally got around to planting the tomato, squash, zucchini, yellow and green bell pepper plants a couple of days ago. They seem happy to be in the soil. Everyday since I have watered them and we got unexpected rain several hours later. As soon as I stop watering them it will stop raining in the evening. It only rains for 30-60 minutes, but it would be enough for me not to water. Such is life.

Several have flowers and a couple have veggies on them. So, we won't have long to wait.

Some friends you don't see alot or talk to alot but when you do see them it seems like no time has passed and you just pick up where you left off. I love those friendships. There is never or very rarely any awkwardness. The friendship just clicks. I am lucky enough to have 3 friends like that. We're just so busy with children, family and spouses (well, not me anymore), that we don't get together as often as we would like.

I had lunch with one of those friends yesterday. It is so uplifting and we both walked away energized to meet lifes next challenges.

The last time we had lunch 5 months ago, I called her afterwards with some websites we had talked about and her husband said "I don't know what you and J. talked about but J. came back in a great mood." I just smiled because we lift each other up and isn't that what friendship is about.

I can't wait until my apartment is ready because I want to invite her and her hubby over with a few others we mutually know for a meal. It will be so much fun with loads of laughter.

As soon as I stop watering them it will stop raining in the evening. LOL!

I know what you mean about the friends. I have 3 girlfriends like that ... 1 I've known from birth, 1 since 2nd grade, 1 since 8th grade. My mom has a group of friends from her elementary school days she gets together with for a "reunion" every summer and it is a highlight of her year. I don't know why but friendships made later in life never seem to be like that.

One of mine is moving too, from here (MD) to Florida in one week. So, now I have an excuse and place to visit in Florida. Now you have an excuse/good reason to visit "cross-country" sometime soon.
